IFS & Win-Vent Team Up to Change the Yonker’s Skyline
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, the Larkin Plaza– a residential waterfront property, over 585,000 square feet and designed by SLCE Architects – is bringing the Yonkers waterfront alive.
All projects have their peculiarities for each supplier, whether it’s tying the window system into various building products, or concrete slabs varying as much as 2” in the X or Y axis. This project featured an elevation that had a gentle sine wave over a 125ft span. Each window unit had to be shifted 2-4 degrees to create the designed aesthetic. This required real and excellent work in the field from American Architectural Window and Doors.
No doubt the extensive experience and technical ability of the Win-Vent team also came in to play, and the architect’s product choice of the Win-Vent 850i was perfect for the project. Designed to be a high performance, 4.5” window wall system for high-rise and commercial markets, the window profiles and installation accessories are customizable to meet project specific engineering and aesthetic requirements. This awesome system is energy efficient, significantly reduces sound transmission, allows for different colors on the inside and outside of the window, and is extremely installer friendly.

Aaron Malone, Sales Manager at Win-Vent – a division of Extrusions Inc. - explains, “technical performance is central to all of our products, and custom is something we celebrate. We also understand that sustainable design is at the forefront of architectural thinking and it is extremely important to Win-Vent. All of our window products are designed to reduce energy consumption with high performance thermal barriers and insulated glass units, and then of course, there’s the finish”.
What Malone means by this is, of course, the sustainability footprint of the performance, architectural grade, IFS Coatings powder applied to all of the extrusions on this project.
It’s a huge advantage to be able to add another layer of sustainability via a performance coating that looks incredible and simply doesn’t compromise on technical capability. From zero solvents and therefore negligible VOCs, the ability to reclaim/reuse/recycle, no hazardous waste, and a significantly reduced carbon footprint, to name but a few, performance IFS powder can truly aid the design professional in meeting their sustainability goals. The Environmental Product Declarations that prove IFS powder is a world class coating with an improved sustainability footprint compared to liquid paint are the icing on the cake.
All of the aluminum extrusions were painted with IFS superior performance powder, including the window frame, window sash, and installation accessories.
Malone continues, “Installing a state of the art powder coating line a couple of years ago has been an enormous advantage to us, enabling us to control the finishing process from start to finish. Whether the design choice is one of our many standard colors, some of the premium metallic/mica finishes, or a custom powder color, we can deliver on the design intent. Working with IFS has been great. It’s nice to be able to team up with a supplier that shares similar values -a high level of customer service and a quality product.”
