Brace yourself…this is powder coated
Picture this. A painful leg injury leaves you in need of a knee brace to help on your road to recovery. Your healthcare professional helps you choose the correct brace, and then asks which color you would like. Which color? For a knee brace? Absolutely.
You may also be wondering where powder coating comes into this scenario. Simply put, with Thuasne, it’s the powder coating that delivers the pop of color that helps patients express themselves and turn a standard medical device into something more interesting.

Thuasne, has a range of ligament and osteoarthritis knee braces that feature a powder coated aluminum frame, that sits against carefully designed padding (so the aluminum is not resting on the skin), to deliver a beautiful pop of color and enhanced durability. These knee braces all now feature IFS powder coating in awesome colors including matte black, gray, red, Atlantic blue and white, and satin finishes in lemon, lime, orange, fuchsia, and Pacific blue.
These gorgeous powder colors were chosen by Thuasne employees. A wide range of IFS colors was presented to them, and they reviewed the shades and offered their feedback. Damien Rivoire, Product Manager explains, “It was a fun and inclusive process that we believe returned the best results. These fun colors and durable coatings actually really make a difference. The challenge is always to keep these medical devices as cost effective, durable and as attractive as possible. By combining our Townsend Hinge Technology with durable and attractive powder coated finishes we are achieving exactly that. The customer response has been fantastic.”
The Thuasne Townsend Hinge Technology ensures that all Thuasne braces now feature a biomechanically correct knee hinge which helps prevent migration of the brace on the leg. They will help protect the ligaments by guiding the new motion and maintaining the normal anterior/posterior positional relationship of the femur and the tibia through the entire gate cycle.
Deciding to go with a durable powder coating was an easy choice. Sustainability is extremely important to Thuasne and so a durable coating that looks great and, due to its great environmental footprint, quite literally doesn’t cost the earth was the easy pick.
Healthcare professionals, including physicians, orthotists, physical therapists and chiropractors, looking to improve ligament stability after an injury or to protect ligaments, now have a range of powder coated options to offer. The Thuasne Rebel Series, Rebel Reliever, Uni Reliever, and Reliever One all feature durable powder coating.
